ELASTIC PROFILES ®

When the light rail or tram tracks are placed within the pavement construction of the road they are being paved or “closed”. Because of the differences in deformations and characteristics of the pavement and track constructions the rail must be free in its action and should not transfer load to the pavement construction or else it will wreck it.                         We solve this problem successfully by applying thin-walled elastic profiles made of elastomer especially resistant to wear and to aggressive material. The issue here is a system of three profile forms shown in the picture on the right:

          1. Elastic profile tape

          2. Elastic insert alongside the rail web

          3. Elastic cover for the rail foot

The profiles are installed from the bottom upwards prior to the pavement construction. By installation of the profiles the rails can act within the pavement construction without any interference and, in such a way, water penetration into the construction is also prevented. Owing to the characteristics of the elastomer the profiles are made of they reduce vibration and noise transmission to the surroundings. Those characteristics they have are also used for bridges where the elastic inserts along the rail web (2) are placed on the rail as an excellent noise protection.
